Closures and Cancellations in the Crossroads due to COVID-19

VICTORIA, Texas – With the spread of COVID-19 continuing throughout the United States, more and more events are cancelling. This includes here in the Crossroads too, even though we don’t have any cases of coronavirus in the area.

UHV has cancelled their study abroad trip to China that was supposed to occur this summer, and their American Book Review book reading. The Homeless Symposium was also cancelled due to speaker cancellations, however, the speaker’s reasoning was the coronavirus concerns.

More events such as the Texas Mile have said they are monitoring the situation and do not foresee any impacts outside of adding extra safety measures to the event. VISD has started talks of social distancing within the district.

The City of Edna has postponed Chalk It Up and the Flag City Community Market. The events were set for Saturday, March 14th.

Wharton County Junior College will extend Spring Break through March 22,2020 at all campus locations.

The City of Port Lavaca has canceled all scheduled events at the Bauer Community Center through April 5, 2020. The City’s Iguana Fest on April 3rd and 4th also canceled. Those with events scheduled at eh Bauer through April 5, 2020 will be contacted to make arrangements for refunds or rescheduling.
