City of Victoria to switch back to chloramines for water disinfection on June 30

Dialysis patients and aquarium owners should plan accordingly

VICTORIA, Texas – Starting Wednesday, June 30, the City of Victoria will change its water disinfection process, but most residents will not notice a difference.

Although the City previously used chlorine during the month of June, a temporary change that takes place once a year to help maintain water quality, it will resume using chloramines for water disinfection.

Although some changes in taste and odor are possible, most residents will not notice any difference in their water.

Both dialysis patients and anyone conditioning water for fish or aquariums may need to change their pretreatment process.
