City of Victoria Parks & Recreation introduces a new pop-up park

New park brings the fun to residents

VICTORIA, Texas – Victoria introduces a fun innovative way to bring the local park to residents thanks to Park and Recreation’s new traveling pop-up park. With donations from Academy Sports + Outdoors, the pop-up park is a small trailer that carries athletic equipment, gym toys such as hula hoops and jump ropes, yard games and other outdoor items to bring the fun to areas that don’t have access to a local park.

“The idea was to put a portable park in a trailer so that we can bring the fun of a park to areas that don’t have access to a park,” said recreation coordinator Gabby Anglin. “We tried to jam-pack as much fun as we could into the trailer.”

The park has already made its way to Son Valley Ranch’s Family Outdoor Expo and the Children’s Discovery Museum’s Seussical STEAM Fest and received positive reviews according to Anglin. Parks and Recreation will continue to host the new pop-up park throughout the city for fun community events by partnering with community organizations in the future.

For Covid-19 safety, the pop-up park will be equipped with hand sanitizer and cleaning supplies while the Park and Recreation staff actively clean equipment during events to ensure a safe and fun environment.
