City of Victoria no longer under water boil notice, this is what restaurants should do now

VICTORIA, Texas – The City of Victoria is no longer under a water boil notice as of Sunday evening.

Recently, the Victoria County Public Health Department visited more than 400 establishments in DeWitt, Calhoun and Victoria County.

The environmental crew from the health department went out last week to educate restaurants in the Crossroads on some of the precautions to take while under a boil-water notice.

Boil-water notices affect restaurants that are under strict guidelines to protect the public from foodborne illnesses.

So, what’s next?

According to the Texas Department of State Health and Human Services, retail food establishments should follow the steps below when a boil water order notice is lifted:

  1. Flush pipes/ faucets for at least five minutes
  2. Flush, clean and sanitize equipment with water line connections according to manufacturer’s directions
  3. Flush drinking water fountains for at least five minutes
  4. Clean and sanitize the ice machine. Discard the first batch of new ice.
