City of Port Lavaca cancels all events at Community Center through April 5th

Decision made out of COVID-19 precautions

PORT LAVACA, Texas-  The following was sent to Newscenter in a press release from the City of Port Lavaca: In light of COVID-19, it is with deep regret that the City of Port Lavaca has to make adjustments to events currently hosted by the City or scheduled in City facilities.

Effective immediately, all events scheduled at the Bauer Community Center have been canceled through April 5, 2020. The decision has also been made to cancel the City’s 2020 Iguana Fest slated for April 3 and 4.

This decision was not made lightly and came at the recommendation of local medical professionals in conjunction with Emergency Management officials, the Mayor and the City Manager. “While we know this is disappointing to people with planned events at our facilities, the safety of our community must come first,” said Port Lavaca Mayor Jack Whitlow. “We’ve listened to medical advice and Emergency Management officials and this is the best course of action for our community for the near future.”

Those with events currently scheduled at the Bauer through April 5, 2020, will be contacted to make arrangements for refunds or rescheduling of their event.
