City council race includes some new candidates

This year's city council race has some new candidates running for positions.

VICTORIA, Texas – Incumbent for Precinct 3, Jeff Bauknight, grew up in Victoria and has been an elected council member since 2013.

Bauknight operates a mechanical contracting firm and has a masters degree from Texas A&M University.

Arron Franco, the other candidate on the ballot, is originally from Corpus Christi and has lived in Victoria for two years.

Furthermore, Franco is the son of a veteran and works for Frost bank.

Franco’s platform is dedicated to improving his community, spreading love, and providing a voice for those who don’t have one.

Even with the November 2020 election wrapped up for a little less than half a year, voting is still on everyone’s mind.

There’s also a special election to name a new mayor of Victoria, with the recent sudden passing of Rawley McCoy.

So far, only one person has filed to run, his name is David Crook, who is a a veteran and student.
