City Council approves construction contract for Riverside dog park

The dog park is expected to open to the public in the summer of 2023

VICTORIA, Texas – During the Tuesday, Nov. 15, City Council meeting, the council awarded a contract for the Riverside dog park project to By Grace Floors and Construction for their proposal of $347K.

Parks & Recreation Director Jason Alfaro provided an update on the Riverside dog park. The location will consume about 3.5 acres near The PumpHouse area. During the Parks & Recreation Master Plan process, residents identified a dog park as a project of interest.

The park will feature the following:

  • two off-leash areas for large and small dogs,
  • a wash area,
  • areas for leashed and unleashed dogs,
  • a covered area
  • and other enhancements.

The City expects the park, branded as Riverside Bark, to open in the summer of 2023. It is also working to memorialize Izzy Drane, a former local Girl Scout who passed away this year, and the Girl Scout Troop for her contributions to the dog park. Drane’s fundraiser will contribute agility equipment to the park and is still available to the public for donations.
