Citizens Medical Center Celebrates EMS Professionals

The Victoria Fire Department is celebrating National EMS Week by honoring EMS professionals who serve the citizens in our community every day.

The Fire Department has several activities planned throughout the week.

On Tuesday, Citizens Medical Center hosted a luncheon for EMS professionals.

They were honored with a free fajita meal, and treated with gifts.

Citizens Medical Center CEO Mike Olson says the goal of EMS week is to enhance the safety of our community through a public education effort, as well as bring together local community members to honor those who provide lifesaving medical services on the front line.

“Our EMS are just foundational to everything we do with taking care of people in our community. They often go unnoticed until you really need them, and I just want to make sure that we recognize them and recognize their contribution to the hospital and to the people,” said Olson.

On Wednesday, the community is invited to attend an EMS Open House and Public Education event from 4-6 p.m. at Victoria Fire Station No. 4.

There will be tours of the station, equipment demonstrations and an opportunity to meet the firefighters, EMT’s and paramedics that serve the community.
