Children’s Discovery Museum Set To Open

“Brain changers and there is a spot for the kids in the circus tot area,” Jennings said.

Those are just a few of the exhibits that will have kids in the crossroads eager to learn more at the new Children’s Discovery Museum and with plans in the works for more than a year the staff is ready to see the fruits of their labor.

“I’ve only seen that on a PDF and then when it comes to life it’s just a whole new arena and a whole new game and we are just super excited to get it open we are one step closer,” Jennings said.

The museum had some trouble securing funding to finish construction, but received a loan worth more than a million dollars from the first national bank in Port Lavaca to help open the doors.

“Just to get it open we know that so many community members are believing in us that once we’re open it’s just gonna take off from there,” Jennings said.

With Interactive hands on exhibits coming from the East coast Catie Jennings says the $2.8 million project has been a roller coaster ride, but she is ready to see the finish line.

“We want to spend more time over in this building as much as we can just to get to know the exhibits we have our countdown on and we are just ready,” Jennings said.
