CDC anticipates a COVID vaccine by the end of year

COVID-19 vaccine to come before 2021

ATLANTA, Georgia — COVID-19 has really set the “new normal” for Americans. Yet, the Center for Disease Control is offering plans on how to distribute a vaccine. The earliest it might be available will be late October.

While this is good news, so far the CDC is determining who should have access to it first. Health Care and essential workers have been at the front end of the disease, meaning that they are the most vulnerable, besides people with underlying medical conditions. Another group on the list are long-term care facility residents and national security.

Still, this does not mean that the vaccine will be approved in less than two months. Robert R. Redfield, CDC Director, says he thinks it will happen by the end of the year.
