Car accident sends one person to hospital

A two-vehicle accident this morning sends one to a local hospital, and also shuts down a major Victoria Street.

According to Victoria Police, about 8:30 this morning, the driver of a dark gray sedan attempted to turn right from North Azalea on to Crestwood, when it was struck by a blue Hyundai traveling West.

The driver of the sedan and a child were inside, but were not hurt.

The driver of the Hyundai was transported to DeTar hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

VPD said the gray sedan was at fault for failing to yield the right of way to the approaching vehicle.

Both lanes of Crestwood was closed down for about an hour.
