Calhoun girls in regional quarterfinals for first time in 30 years

Calhoun girls basketball is preparing for the regional quarterfinals for the first time since 1987. The Sandies are the only 5A area girls basketball team still alive in the playoffs.

Calhoun made it into the postseason after beating Lamar Consolidated in a special fourth-place playoff. After making the cut, the Sandies beat Austin Lanier in bi-district. Then in area, they took down Dripping Springs to advance to the third round of playoffs for the first time in 30 years.

The Sandies will face Marble Falls in the quarterfinals on Tuesday at 7 p.m. at Gonzales High School.
