Calhoun Football’s Offense Comes Out Fast
Sandcrabs Score 126 Points In First Two Games
Port Lavaca, Texas —
Crab Nation makes the Dave Campbell’s Texas Football Magazine state top ten this week.
After two impressive wins to start the season, Calhoun is ranked eighth in 5A Division II. The Sandcrabs have scored a total of 126 points in their two wins. Running back Steve Johnson is in the top 30 in the state in rushing, and quarterback Conner Kestler is in the top 30 in the state in scoring with seven touchdowns. Our Sean Coffey asked head coach Richard Whitaker how much confidence his team has right now?
“Well we’re playing with some confidence but polls don’t mean anything. We’ve got a very tough team coming into town Friday night. This group here was the Mexico National Champions last year, so they’ve got a lot of pride in their program. They’ve got some grown men coming over here, they are some big kids that run very well. They had Temple down for three quarters of the night, and Temple pulled it out in the fourth quarter. So, very tough one coming this Friday. Again, polls don’t mean anything. We’re playing with confidence but we just got to continue to get better.”
Calhoun football looks to go 3-0 when it hosts Nuevo Leon from Monterey, Mexico Friday night at 7:00.
