Calhoun Football Returns To State Poll

Sandcrabs In At No. 10

Three area high school football teams make the Dave Campbell’s Texas Football Magazine state polls Monday.
Calhoun, back in the state 5A Division II poll at number ten. The Sandcrabs, improving to 3-1 on the season, 1-0 in district, after winning on the road against a then-unbeaten Gregory-Portland team. The game did not end until 12:15 Saturday morning after the transformer at the G-P stadium blew during the third quarter. The Sandcrabs host another unbeaten team, Alice, in district play this Friday night.

Two more area teams stay at the top of the 2A Division I state ratings. Refugio stays at number one, Shiner at number two. Both teams now 5-0 on the season. The Bobcats overcame a 28-6 second quarter deficit at home against Mart to win 48-40 last Friday night, while the Comanches won 55-6 at home against Goliad.. This Friday night, Refugio has a bye week, while Shiner hosts Lexington.
