Sandcrabs Have Top Ten Returning Rusher
Port Lavaca, Texas —
Friday night, Victoria will get a visit from Crab Nation.
Calhoun football, coming off a season that ended in the state 5A Division II quarterfinals. The Sandcrabs have six starters back on offense, four on defense. First team All-District quarterback Conner Kesler returns, along with Steve Johnson, one of the top returning rushers in the state. The junior picked up 2324 hundred yards and 15 touchdowns last season. Our Sean Coffey talked with head coach Richard Whitaker about how high expectations are after last year.
“Well we have great expectations every year, but certainly when you come off a great season like that the kids are excited, come into the offseason excited. You know, we’re hoping to do something similar to that this year or maybe better”
Calhoun football opens the season Friday night at Memorial Stadium against West.
The latest on that game, planned for the season 20 debut of Friday Football Fever, 10:20 Friday night after Newscenter 25 at Ten.
