Calhoun Football Moves Ahead From Forfeit
Sandcrabs Face Big Road Game Friday Night
Port Lavaca, Texas —
Things are getting back to normal for Calhoun football.
After a weekend when head coach Richard Whitaker found out from the UIL that they had to forfeit their win over Alice due to using an ineligible player, the Sandcrabs have returned to business. I asked the Sandcrabs how much things are now back to normal.
Said head coach Richard Whitaker, “Our kids have been great all week long. Monday may have been the best practice we’ve had all year. I told the kids afterwards that I really needed that. Kids are resilient anyway, probably more so than adults.”
Said Steve Johnson, Calhoun’s all-time leading rusher, “As a team we never let it phase us. We knew going into that game there may be a possibility but we weren’t positive. It’s a mistake that happens in this world. We’re all humans. We all make mistakes. “
Calhoun football’s next huge district game comes Friday night at Tuloso-Midway.
