Business Report: American Airlines looks to make improvements

American Airlines is looking to improve its on-time flights, but that may mean standby travelers will be left behind. The head of the Pilot’s Union said American Airlines left nearly 20,000 standby passengers behind as it looks to improve its on-time performance. Gate agents are under pressure to close doors 10 minutes before scheduled departure time, but that has lead to standby travelers being left at the gate on about one in six flights even if there are empty seats on board.
