Incumbent candidate defeats business owner in city council race
UPDATE: Mark Loffgren will retain his seat on city council.
VICTORIA, Texas – One of the top races we’re following tonight, is District 6 Victoria City Council.
Incumbent Mark Loffgren is seeking re-election.
He faces April Butler.
We heard from both candidates today.
Butler, is a business owner who runs the Woodhouse Day Spa and the ‘I Fix It Computer Guy.’ She said one of her main goals is to bring transparency and trust to her constituents.
Loffgren won the seat in May 2019.
He said he wants to continue working for his constituents and all Victorians.
Butler said she started the day at the Field of Honor and has since been at the Dr. Pattie Dodson Public Health Center to answer any voter questions.
She is joined by her husband, two daughters and her 83-year-old mother, who drove in from Houston.
Butler describes her run for office as an amazing experience and no matter what the outcome, she’s thankful for the new connections she’s made in the community.
Here are the unofficial results as of 10:40 p.m. Saturday:
- Butler: 41.46 percent, 922
- Loffgren: 58.54 percent, 1,302
- Total votes: 2,224
