Burn ban goes into effect for DeWitt County
Here are the details on the burn ban
DEWITT COUNTY, Texas – On Thursday, the DeWitt County Commissioners Court ordered a burn ban to go into effect at 12:01 a.m. on Jan. 28, 2022. The Commissioners determined that the circumstances present in the unincorporated areas of DeWitt County create a public safety hazard that would become more severe by certain outdoor burning.
The burn ban will remain in effect for a period of 90 days, expiring on April 27, 2022, at midnight. The County Judge may halt this order if he determines the circumstances that required the order no longer exist.
The DeWitt County Commissioners ordered the burn ban for the safety of the public due to potential hazards related to wildfires. The current dry weather poses a threat to potential wildfires.
