BREAKING: Rose Marie Garcia sentenced to 38 years for the murder of her husband

VICTORIA COUNTY, Texas – On Wednesday, Nov. 16, a jury sentenced Rose Marie Garcia, 59, to 38 years in prison for the murder of her husband and 15 years for tampering with evidence.

Garcia plead guilty in the death of her husband and tampering with evidence on Monday, Nov. 14. The couple was married for more than 40 years. According to authorities, Garcia reported her husband missing on June 18, 2019. A few days later, investigators found the body of Mario Garcia in the 1000 block of Beck Road West.

Sentencing for Garcia began on Monday, and witnesses were called to the stand to testify. Judge Garza then called for a recess, setting the punishment phase to resume on Tuesday, Nov. 15.
