BLUE ALERT: Search for suspect in police officer shooting in Burleson
Jerry Don Elders is on the run wanted in a shooting in Burleson
BURLESON, Texas- Multiple law enforcement agencies including the U.S. Marshals, Texas Rangers, and the Texas Department of Public Safety are looking for Jerry Don Elders. He wanted in the shooting of a Burleson police officer. The incident happened in the early morning hours of April 14, 2021. Police pulled over the vehicle Elders was in with two other people. As the officer approached the passenger side one of the three occupants fired shots and hit the officer. One of the suspects went to a home and carjacked the resident. At 8:44 a.m. a woman arrived at the Joshua Police Department with gunshot wounds. She later died at a hospital.
Elders is 39-years-old. His last known vehicle is a stolen silver Toyota Tacoma, DKB6819. Elders is considered armed and dangerous.
Elders is wanted on the charge of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon against a police officer – a first degree felony and possession of control substance penalty group 1, less than 1 gram, which is also a felony offense.
