Black Lives Matter Demonstration in Victoria
A group of students showed support for the Black Lives Matter movement and the late George Floyd
VICTORIA, Texas – Friday evening some students gathered along N. Navarro to demonstrate and support the black lives matter movement and to remember George Floyd. The group organized the protest on Facebook, Snapchat and other forms of social media. They wanted to show their support for the black community as well as love for the Floyd family by creating signs. One read “No justice no peace”, another said “Honk for justice.” Cars drove by honking their horns in support of the demonstration.
Kaylyn Galvan and Penny Smith organized the protest and say we need more love in the world.
“Regardless of the color of your skin, we need people to love each other. No justice, no peace. We all want love just one love.”
The protest in the 5200 block of Navarro involved about 20 people. We checked with Victoria police, they said there were no issues.
