Black Chamber of Commerce honors the late Dr. Dudley with education award

VICTORIA – Students and staff at Dudley Elementary school kicked off their Friday morning with an award ceremony honoring the late Dr. Charles A. Dudley.

The ceremony took place inside the school’s broadcasting studio during the live KDGT’s morning newscast that airs around the school.

Board members, Eric Leonard, Ricky Mumphord, and Barbara Mills, of the Golden Crescent Black Chamber of Commerce presented the school with an education award honoring Dr. Dudley for his legacy in education. Dr. Dudley was awarded the honor posthumously this past November during the Black Chamber’s annual awards gala. Jana White, Assistant Principal at Dudley Elementary said receiving this award on Dr. Dudley’s behalf is a visual reminder for the students to achieve success in education.

“He has had a big impact and for our students they need that visionary they need that someone that they have seen be successful so they themselves can have that goal to look forward to and become successful,” said White.

The award will be housed at Dudley Elementary.
