Beto O’Rourke making a campaign stop in Victoria

Democrat gubernatorial nominee will hold a "People of Texas" townhall at University of Houston-Victoria

VICTORIA, Texas – Democrat gubernatorial candidate Beto O’Rourke will be visiting Victoria on March 11, 2022. O’Rourke will be at the University of Houston-Victoria at 2:30 p.m. as he holds a “People of Texas” town hall. It will be located at the University North Building Multipurpose Room on the U.H.V. campus. According to O’Rourke’s website, the town hall will be a conversation about education.

O’Rourke won the Democratic nomination earlier this month against multiple candidates. O’Rourke will be running against the incumbent Governor Greg Abbott in the November general election. O’Rourke nearly ousted Texas Sen. Ted Cruz in 2018 will get the chance to try for an even bigger upset in November.

He’ll be an underdog against Abbott, who began the campaign with more than $50 million and staking out hard-line positions on abortion guns and immigration. The victories kick off what could be a long, bruising midterm season that is poised to reshape power in state capitals and Washington.
