VICTORIA, Texas – Battle of the Boot is back for its sixth year.

Victoria East and West High School students, staff and parents are going to war with their respective rival during the 2021 Battle of the Boot.

Battle of the Boot, a crosstown rivalry event, is entering its sixth year, with Victoria East leading the way. Although the two schools have been playing each other annually since 2021, the Battle of the Boot was introduced back in 2016. Since then, the East Titans hold a 3-2 advantage over the West Warriors.

Purpose of Battle of the Boot:

  • promote school spirit,
  • generate community involvement, and
  • ultimately build excitement for the East vs. West football game on Friday night

This year, there will be fun-filled spirit days at both high schools. There will also be a Twitter war between the schools to see who has the most spirit. Starting Wednesday, Sept. 29 at 7 a.m. through Thursday, Sept. 30, at 12 p.m., the School Spirit Challenge on Twitter will be in full force.

Rules of the competition are as follows:

  • Follow @VictoriaISD on Twitter and Instagram
  • Tag @VictoriaISD on Twitter using the hashtag #BOB21 and your school hashtag, either
    #VEHS or #VWHS

You must complete all of the above requirements for an entry to count. A bran new 2021 Spirit Stick will be presented to the campus with the highest amount of hashtags during the time period above on Twitter. The presentation will take place on Friday, Oct. 1. Students, staff and parents are encouraged to participate.

Victoria I.S.D. anticipates a fun-filled week to be capped off on Friday night with an East vs. West showdown. Kickoff is set for 7:30 p.m. at Memorial Stadium.
