Bailout in Victoria County Monday, June 28
A second truck evaded and escaped
VICTORIA COUNTY, Texas — The Goliad County Sheriff’s received information Monday that undocumented immigrants were being loaded into the bed of two trucks. This occurred under the Duke Ranch Bridge near Fannin.
Authorities responded to the area and were able to stop one of the trucks on US 59, inside of Victoria County. GCSO detained four undocumented immigrants. They were taken to the Goliad County Jail before being picked up by Border Patrol.
Two of those detained were from Mexico and two were from Honduras. One detainee had two previous deportations by federal agencies.
The second truck in the incident evaded on a back road in Victoria County and was able to escape.
GCSO says they are working closely with Homeland Security and Border Patrol. The bailout is currently under investigation.
