Bad News Chairs Reach Goal to Help Teammate

Victoria’s wheelchair sports team, the Bad News Chairs, raised more than $1,200 at their benefit basketball game on Saturday. The fundraiser at the Boys & Girls Club of Victoria helped the team reach its goal of providing a new sports chair for their teammate.

One of the players on the Bad News Chairs recently had his sports wheelchair stolen. The team and community rallied together to raise the funds to replace it. People contributed donations via a Go Fund Me page, but they still hadn’t reached their goal as of Friday. Then the team hosted the fundraiser game Saturday against the Corpus Christi Rimz.

The team coach Danny Camacho says the donations not only helped them reach their goal, but exceed it. In addition to replacing their teammate’s sports wheelchair, they’re also planning to buy one or two extra chairs for people who want to join the team in the future.
