Autopsy report reveals new details in death of Patrick Cullen

The 73-year-old Victoria resident was found deceased by Victoria Police Officers January 16, 2022.

VICTORIA, Texas – In an autopsy report obtained by 25 News Now, released by the Victoria Justice of the Peace Precinct 2, there are new details in, what the Victoria Police Department is calling a suspicious death.

From the autopsy report, “…this 73-year-old man was found unresponsive in his unsecured residence with a cell phone charging cord wrapped around his neck. 911 was called and death was pronounced on scene,”. The report stated that due to decompositional changes it was unclear how tight the ligature was around his neck.

The report also revealed that Cullen was swabbed for COVID-19 during his autopsy and the test came back positive for SARS-CoV-2 (the virus that causes COVID-19).

The cause and manner of death, in the report, are stated to be undetermined.

The autopsy was conducted by the Travis County Medical Examiner.

The following was information released by the Victoria Police Department on January 18, 2022.

“On Sunday, January 16, 2022 at 5:20 PM, Victoria Police Department received a call in reference to an investigation at a residence in the 100 block of Loma Vista Ave. The resident, 73-year-old Patrick Cullen, was found deceased inside of the location. The circumstances of Cullen’s death are of suspicious nature and are under investigation. An autopsy has been ordered by JP Rodney Durham.”
