Authorities say Texas man dies after fireworks mishap
SILSBEE, Texas (AP) — Authorities say a southeast Texas man has died after a fireworks mishap on New Year’s Eve.
Hardin County Sheriff’s Office Chief Deputy Kenny Davenport says deputies were called to a home at about 6:30 p.m. Monday near Silsbee, about 85 miles (137 kilometers) northeast of Houston. Davenport tells Beaumont TV station KFDM that deputies found 49-year-old Rory Allen McGlynn suffering from a severe wound to his right shoulder and chest.
Authorities say witnesses told police that McGlynn had some type of fireworks on his shoulder and it exploded, causing injuries to his shoulder and chest.
Davenport says McGlynn died en route to the hospital.
