Athlete Of The Week: Kyleigh Spree-Kolos
Our Athlete Of The Week is Kyleigh Spree-Kolos
Kyleigh Spree-Kolos is finishing up a fantastic four years of soccer for the East girls. Spree-Kolos has already won the District MVP award twice. Kyleigh will graduate as the Titan girls all-time leading scorer. This season, she has scored 29 goals, and is on track to break her own school record of 36 goals last year.
“My senior year’s going pretty well. I know it was a little bit better than last year but not as much. I can still see a little bit of improvement in myself.”
Said head coach Misty Boenig, “She’s just a hard worker. She’s a great kid. She’s positive out on the field. She’s a leader for her teammates and she’s really good about being there and being our stability up top. ”
In January, Spree-Kolos signed to play at Our Lady Of The Lake. Now she did not have to worry about whether she would play at the next level.
“It felt really good to get that stress off my shoulders and to know that I get to play next year and I can focus on my game right now and to do my best to help us get to the playoffs. ”
For the past two years, Kyleigh has played on the U.S. Olympic Developmental team. Spree-Kolos has played on that team in major tournaments in Alabama the past two seasons. On Spring Break of 2018, Kyleigh got to play with Team USA in London.
“Mainly just working with my team and just working together just to get the ball into the back of the net, just to make runs and to stay open.”
Said coach Boenig, “For her to be able to see styles national-wise, that only helps. The more experience that she sees that she can bring back to the team.”
