Artist Ryan Sims to perform during 25 News Now Sunrise show
Sims began his solo country career in 2013
VICTORIA, Texas – Country artist Ryan Sims will perform live during 25 News Now’s Sunrise show from 6:30 a.m. to 7 a.m. on Monday, March 21.
Sims was born in Indianapolis, Indiana, and raised by a single mother alongside two sisters. According to Sim’s biography, he grew up financially poor before his mother married a man, who raised Sims, and pulled them out of financial hardships. He received his first guitar, an $80 Oscar Schmidt acoustic, at age 10. Sims also received guitar lessons that Christmas. According to his guitar instructor, he had the “natural ability to play by ear.” By age 15, Sims began singing
Following Sims’ high school career, he began playing at open mics and house parties until he was 20. At that point, he started his first “real band,” Eastonashe. In 2013, Sims was the final remaining member of the original lineup, and country music was booming. This gave him an opportunity to begin a solo, country career. A couple of years later, Liz Burns offered Sims a proposal to sign with her record label, Cave Creek Records.
