All Area ISD's Will Not Have Classes Through April 3

VICTORIA, Texas- Here is the latest information on area school district’s responses to the COVID-19 outbreak. Please call ahead to confirm that the lasted with your school. If you have a school closure to report please email the details to This list will be updated in real-time as more updates are received.

-Austwell-Tivoli ISD will remain closed through April 3.

-Bloomington ISD is closing for three weeks. The district is suspending face-to-face contact between teachers and students, and then after the three weeks they will re-evaluate the situation. Bloomington ISD free meal distribution starts Monday. All children under the age of 19 years old, and any BISD students over the age of 19 years old. Sacked lunch for that day and breakfast for the next day will be provided. Pickup locations will be Placedo Elementary, Bloomington Elementary and the Dacosta Hall between 11:00 a.m.-12:00 p.m.

Calhoun County ISD The Calhoun County ISD School Board met Thursday, March 19, and acknowledged Governor Abbott’s proclamation to close schools with remote learning through April 3.

The board adopted a resolution to continue compensation and wage payments for employees. An email detailing further information for employees has been sent.

Additionally, district officials presented the following information regarding child nutrition and remote learning:

Child Nutrition Services:

The district is committed to provide two meals per day for children 18 years and younger (21 and younger for special needs children) starting Wednesday, March 25. Meals (lunch + the next day’s breakfast) will be served curbside, Monday through Friday, at six locations across the district. Children must be present to receive the meal, and families are asked to remain in their vehicle throughout the pickup process.

Remote Learning:

Calhoun County ISD’s instructional strategy is transitioning into a remote learning format starting March 30. Teacher lesson plans and directions will be posted on the Calhoun County ISD Staff Directory, located at the top right corner of the district’s website, under the teacher’s name. As much of the remote learning plan is online-based, the district is investigating options to provide WiFi at public locations for families needing Internet access. As further plans are finalized, information will be provided on the district’s website, on the COVID-19 Update Center.

-Cuero ISD will close all schools from March 23rd to April 3rd. CISD will review the closure on April 3rd and determine if we will extend for further weeks or reopen. No extracurricular practices will happen during closure. All extracurricular events and contests are suspended through May 3rd per UIL.
This was an extremely tough decision and we have not made it lightly. We also understand the difficulties this causes our working parents and guardians. Many realize the school provides many services to the students and community beyond an education. It is a second home for many of our children.
CISD is working to finalize the logistics of providing online, off sight learning opportunities, meal distribution, and school services. More information about continued learning opportunities will be made available during the week of March 23rd-27th.
Meals will be provided in the bus loop at Hunt elementary on 2nd street for any child 0-18 yrs. and under. Child must be present to receive meal.

-Edna ISD will be closed next week. They plan to resume classes March 30.

-El Campo ISD is closed through April 3. Free meal distribution started Wednesday for children 0-18 at Northside Elementary in El Campo 10:00 a.m.-11:00 a.m.

On Friday, March 20, 2020, from 5:00 – 6:30 pm families who do not have access to an electronic device will have the opportunity to check out a Chromebook on loan from ECISD.   Parents and students must complete the ECISD Chromebook Pledge (if this link does not work for you, please click the link above this window or right-click and select “Open in New Tab”) before being issued a device.  Chromebooks will be distributed at Northside Elementary through the back driveway.  District staff will deliver a device per family to the vehicle; families will not need to exit the vehicle.  It would be helpful to complete the attached form.

-Faith Academy has chosen to extend spring break through Friday, March 27th.
Instruction will resume on Monday, March 30th.

-Ganado ISD will be closed starting next Monday for an indefinite period.

-Goliad ISD will be closed through April 3.

-Hallettsville ISD: Closed through April 3. Additionally, all extracurricular activities, practices and athletic events are suspended during this time. This includes HHS Prom which will be rescheduled for a later time. The district will provide more updates on March 25th by 4 p.m. on their website, social media and BlackBoard Connect.

-Industrial ISD will be closed through April 3. The district is taking the extra week to further clean schools and buses and restock custodial and nursing supplies.

-Louise ISD is closed indefinitely.

-Refugio ISD is closed through April 3.

-Shiner ISD is closed through April 3.

-Tidehaven ISD closed through April 3. They will be using three different avenues to support their students. They are:
1) Online lessons posted to the school website or teachers’ website, via Google Classrooms for JH
and HS students. Blessing Elementary is using Remind 101, and Markham Elementary is using
2) For those students that do not have access to Internet services or prefer paper copies, we will
print out a paper copy of the lessons and have those available for pick up on Monday of each week
from 11:00 A.M.. – 1:00 P.M. at Markham and Blessing campuses only. Materials for all grade levels
PK- grade 12 will be available at the Markham and Blessing campuses. Students’ work will be
evaluated by the teachers. Students or parents may drop off their work packets to be reviewed by
teachers each Monday from 11:00 A.M. to 1:00 P.M. at Markham and Blessing. Students completing
the work and submitting it for review by their teacher will be eligible for a reward that will be
designed by the campus administrator.
3) Teachers will be available for a period of time during the week to answer questions from
students. HS/JH teachers will be available for live student interaction through Google
Meets/Hangouts on Fridays from 9:00 A.M. – 11:00 A.M. This can be done directly through the
school website. For HS/JH students, hyperlinks by each teacher’s name will be posted on the front
of the website.

-Yoakum ISD will be closed until April 3, 2020 as per the order issued by Governor Greg Abbott to support the community and health care professionals continuing effort to contain the spread of COVID-19.  All extra-curricular practices and events will remain suspended. Yoakum ISD will continue to work on developing an educational transition plan to offer non face to face instruction as we move forward this school year.  In addition, YISD will be looking at ways to distribute food to meet children’s nutritional needs while school is out.

-Yorktown ISD  announces the suspension of face to face instruction through Friday, April 3rd. Beginning March 25th, the district will be transitioning to an at home learning platform. All competitions, including school related and community based, that have been scheduled within the district between now and Sunday, April 5 are postponed or canceled.
