East Gets Big Home District Win

Here are Thursday’s area high school softball results.

East softball, continuing spring break district home action Thursday.
I was at the Victoria Youth Sports Complex as the Titans took on Carroll. East gets a run in the first on this fielder’s choice RBI from Emileigh Burow. This one goes to extra innings, and East gives to Carroll its first district loss, 4-3. Kaylynn Franklin pitches all ten innings for the Titans, striking out 12. Danielle Gomez with two RBI’s for East, and Neesa Poncia’s sac fly in the tenth scores the game-winner for East, who’s now 4-2 in district. Saturday at noon, East softball continues district play in Corpus Chrisit against King.

West softball, losing in district action in Corpus Christi, 11-0 in five innings to Veterans Memorial, Thursday afternoon to fall to 2-4 in district. Mailea Huerta was the losing pitcher. The Warriors got just one hit in the loss.
