Back in Victoria, the Adams Golf Pro Tour practice rounds started Monday.
Joe Mitchell, PGA Director Of Golf at Victoria Country Club, getting in some practice on his home course. This is the longest running stop on the APT tour. It started at Victoria Country Club back in 1994, and it has continued there for 22 straight years. A 72 golfer field will tee off Wednesday for round one, with first prize worth $15,000. Three-time Victoria Open champ Brian Rowell will go for number four. I talked with two of the pros in for Monday practice about why they like to play in Victoria..

Said Chuck Spears, who’s playing in his third Victoria Open, “I figure it favors a guy who hits pretty far. I hit it pretty far and have a lot of wedges in. The greens are usually pretty good. The scoring’s usually not that low here.”
Said Landon Lyons, who’s playing in his second Victoria Open, “I just love Texas. I was born and raised in Austin. Any time I can get back here to Texas I’m jumping on it, biting at the bullet. Great golf course, good layout, nice people, great tournament. All around it’s a fun week. “

The Victoria Open pro-am tees off Tuesday afternoon at 12:30 at Victoria Country Club. The pro-am is sponsored by Chick-Fil-A and J. Welch Farms
