Approximately 15 individuals escape, following vehicle pursuit

WHARTON COUNTY, Texas – On Thursday, at approximately 1:15 a.m., members of the Wharton County Sheriff’s Office Criminal Interdiction Unit and Patrol Division attempted a stop on a silver GMC Sierra pickup. Members stopped the vehicle for a traffic violation on US 59 northbound, near Pierce, Texas.
The driver refused to stop, beginning a pursuit. The pursuit continued for several miles until it reached the Kendleton area in Fort Bend County.
The driver then exited the highway and entered a turn row for a cord field. Once the vehicle came to a stop, approximately 15 individuals exited the vehicle and ran into the corn field.
Deputies then began searching the area for the individuals. The Fort Bend County Sheriff’s Office and Texas Department of Public Safety Aircraft Division assisted in the search. Officials did not locate any of the individuals.
