Aero Crafters is joining the fight against food insecurity and you can too

VICTORIA,TX – Back to School events are happening throughout the Crossroads. Local organizations have done an amazing job volunteering and collecting backpacks and school supplies for children in our area. Aero Crafters wants to do our part to give back before school starts!

We did some homework and found the Food Bank of the Golden Crescent has a “Kids Backpacks” program. Although, it may be a little different than you think. This program works with administrators, staff and parents liaisons to identify children at risk of hunger or food insecurity.

According to tfbgc.org the current food insecurity rate in this service area is 27.4%, numbering about 20,000 children. Many of the children The BackPack Program serves are considered homeless or unable to tell where their next meal will come from. The program helps by providing “backpacks” filled with food that can be taken home over the weekend and holidays when there is no access to school lunches.

Hunger has a lasting effect on the development of children. Research points to issues like: Behavioral issues directly linked to hunger and damaged physical growth, brain development and cognitive functioning due to undernutrition.

Friday, August 17th, 2018 Aero Crafters will donate 10% of all food truck sales for the day to the Food Bank of the Golden Crescent BackPack Program.

This is the last Friday before summer break comes to a close and class is back in session, enjoy live music, good vibes and join the fight with the Food Bank of the Golden Crescent to end food insecurity in the Crossroads or if you can’t make it out and you would like to make a donation visit tfbgc.org!
