Abundant Tropical Moisture and Weak Instability Mean Rain

Widespread Showers and Thunderstorms Late Today

The combination of deep layered tropical moisture and a weak upper level disturbance have brought widespread clouds with showers and thunderstorms to the Crossroads late today. Very heavy rainfall in numerous thunderstorms offshore has prompting special marine warnings this afternoon. The clouds and showery conditions will persist overnight, then begin to diminish early Wednesday as the upper level disturbance shifts eastward away from the Crossroads. Nevertheless, expect scattered rain showers on Wednesday, then isolated seabreeze showers Thursday and Friday. A developing tropical wave will move across the Gulf of Mexico this coming weekend, keeping scattered showers and thunderstorms in the forecast through Tuesday. Highs will be in the lower to middle 90s, with lows in the lower to middle 70s.
