A new food truck sells tamales and pies

There's a food truck on Navarro street, selling tamales and pies, for anyone to buy.

VICTORIA, Texas – It’s that time of the year again, Christmas tamales are here and we can’t wait to try them all!

Christy Gutierrez has been thinking about having a tamale truck for quite some time now.

Before having this truck, she would make tamales and sell them from her home.

Gutierrez admitted that making them during a tough year feels extra special, because of the nurture it provides her customers.

“We were excited because we got employed in making tamales. Because of COVID and stuff, they miss their family. Tamales are traditional, so they’re pretty much what a lot of people love to eat,” she said.

This cuisine always felt special for her because it helped when reminiscing about her childhood.

“Oh it reminds me of when we were kids, and our families would be gathered around the table and making tamales and made memories,” she recalled.

If you look closely while driving on Navarro street, near the Furniture Depot, there’s a bright yellow truck now and that’s where they are selling tamales.

They are also selling pies in many flavors, such as apple caramel crumb, cherry, pumpkin, pecan, coconut crème, and lemon meringue pies.

Christy and Vincent, the owners, want everyone to know that you still have time to buy their tamales or pies. “We’re right here on Navarro Street and we sell Tamales and pies only. We’re going to be opened all the way through New Year’s,” she said.

You can stop by this tamale truck before the new year. Right now, they are only accepting cash payments, at the low price of $15 dollars per dozen. Get em’ while you can!
