A midnight shopping spree helps local family

A family in need received their Christmas presents early this year with a shopping spree.

VICTORIA, Texas – The Jones’ family of 4 received a holiday shopping spree at our local Target, sponsored by Kimberlite Homes. They spent $1,900 on gifts, household essentials, and groceries.

Overall their sponsor received 13 applications, and spread the word about this shopping spree opportunity for families in need, through social media.

Bianca Smiley, Marketing Director, said organizing and setting up the entire shopping spree was extremely easy.

“Honestly, it was so easy. Josh here at Target, the manager, made it a super smooth process. It was amazing. I can’t even tell you, the family’s reactions and their emotions – you could obviously tell that we just completely made their Christmas a complete miracle for them and I loved being a part of that,” she said.

The Target employees who were working while the family shopped around, wore Santa hats and played holiday-themed music to make this experience even better for the Jones’.

The family shopped privately at the store, while no other customers were present, in order to make this process easier when colleting the items and taking them home.

Smiley continued to explain how acting as a unit is important for our community, “I feel like this year more than ever, giving back and just being honestly like a unit (as a community) is so important. Being here, being able to see this family and bring some joy to a year where everyone deserves some. It was really awesome to be here and support that,” she said.

Our local store, Peaches & Tortilla also donated gifts to the family, giving the mother a hat and a bath-bomb, her young boy a wooden toy, and the baby daughter – a ballerina stuffed animal. In addition, Chick-Fil-A donated a $100 party package gift card.
