9-11 Victoria Memorial Climb
The 9-11 tower climb is a tradition that started in San Antonio. It's a time to remember the first responders we lost on September 11th 2001.
VICTORIA, Texas – Usually, the tower climb takes place in San Antonio, but due to the pandemic, the tower climb committee decided to set up smaller sites across the state.
For Victoria it was at memorial stadium. Victoria Fire Department engineer Dale Hartman, who usually takes part in the San Antonio climb, says every step today was to remember those no longer with us.
“You want to push yourself a little bit, to put yourself in the shoes of the men that climbed that tower…..and were never able to climb down,” said Hartman.
Victoria county and city of Victoria first responders took part in today’s ceremony. City leaders were also there and some first responders from other areas of the crossroads.
