37-year-old man sentenced to life without parole for Continuous Sexual Abuse of a Child

VICTORIA, Texas – A Victoria County jury sentenced Robert Dean Yancy, Jr. to life in the Institutional Division of the Texas Department of Criminal Justice on Wednesday.

A jury found Yancy, 37, guilty of the offense of Continuous Sexual Abuse of a Child on May 18, 2022.

The defendant will not be eligible for parole considering a prison sentence for this offense must be served day for day.

Evidence proved that Yancy repeatedly sexually abused a child over a three-year-period from 2018 to 2021. The abuse began when the child was seven-years-old. The child, now 10-years-old, testified, along with her younger brother. The younger brother witnessed some of the acts.

Chief Felony Assistant District Attorney Arnold Hayden prosecuted the case with the assistance of Assistant District Attorney Alex Masker. Judge Elí Garza
presided over the trial.

Defense attorneys Keith Weiser and Merri Nichols represented the defendant.
