2020 children’s play “The Enchanted Bookshop” postponed to 2021

The Main Street executive committee rescheduled the play to June 2021

PORT LAVACA, Texas – Children’s Theater Director Jody Weaver explains why they decided to postpone the play to next year.

It is with great sadness that I must announce that the Main Street Executive Committee (with my recommendation) has rescheduled the 2020 Children’s play, “The Enchanted Bookshop,” to June of 2021. Even if the COVID-19 situation improves locally to the point that we all feel safe together for rehearsals and performances, my current responsibilities as the Interim City Manager do not leave me enough time or energy (physically or mentally) to try to rehearse the show this summer. At present it looks like I will be in this current role through August. SO … everyone that was cast for this 2020 show is STILL cast for the 2021 show. If there are kids that for whatever reason are unable to participate next year, we will hold auditions for those roles. Again I am so very sorry. I know this event has become a cherished staple of our community. Once I was able to admit that this had to be our chosen path, I must admit I had a good cry. But on the bright side, we will be announcing soon a talent show that will begin virtually with the finals at the County Fair (or virtually if in person is not an option). I love you all and keep me in your prayers over the summer as I do my best with the responsibilities that have been handed to me for this time.
