10 people were arrested in Yoakum drug bust, authorities report

Investigation is ongoing


YOAKUM, Texas- Ten people were arrested following a drug bust in Yoakum Friday morning.  Karl Van Slooten, the Yoakum Chief of Police confirms that several police departments came together to make a large drug bust in Yoakum.

“This morning officers with the Yoakum Police Department with assistance from the Cuero Police Department, Dewitt County Sheriff’s Department, Lavaca County Sheriff’s department, La Vernia Police Department, Wilson County Sheriff Department, and the Department of Public Safety. We conducted four-county search warrants here in Yoakum,” said Karl Van Slooten, The Yoakum Chief of Police.

This is a result of a lengthy narcotics investigation, Yoakum Police Chief Van Slooten talked about what they found inside the homes.

“Right now we found a lot we have about two pounds of meth, about a pound and a half of marijuana that’s been seized, numerous pills, a small amount of cocaine along with cash and one firearm,” said Van Slooten.

The search warrant was executed just before 6 a.m. Here are the names of all 10 people who were arrested during this drug bust. Charles Hodges, Brian ‘Rudy” Ford, Sabrina Yow, Jason Lawson, Henry Enoch, Sharon Hodgeswere, Richard Anthony Ochoa, Demon Parr, Cody Oliver, and Leonard Jones. (Police only released eight mug shots.)

“The Lavaca County Jail is closed so those that were arrested in Lavaca county are being given personal recognizance bonds and released. Those arrested in DeWitt County will be transferred to the DeWitt County Jail. We want to emphasize this is a part of a lengthy investigation and we are happy to get this amount of drugs off the streets with the holiday season coming up we want to make sure that the city is safer for the holiday,” said Van Slooten.
