The National Weather Service in Corpus Christi has issued a

* Flash Flood Warning for...
Refugio County in south central Texas...

* Until 1000 AM CDT.

* At 659 AM CDT, local law enforcement reported heavy rain has
flooded roadways from Refugio to Woodsboro to Bonnie View. Four to
six inches of rain have already fallen from Woodsboro to north of
Refugio. Flash flooding is expected to continue.

* Some locations that will experience flooding include...
Refugio, Woodsboro, Quintana and Bonnie View.

Additional rainfall amounts of 2 to 4 inches are possible in the
warned area.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

Turn around, don't drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood
deaths occur in vehicles.

* from late this morning through early this evening, or until the
warning is cancelled.
* At 5:15 AM Tuesday, the stage was 2.6 feet.
* Minor flooding is forecast.
* Flood stage is 13.0 feet.
* Forecast: Rise above flood stage late this morning, crest near 13.8
feet this afternoon, drop below flood stage early this evening.
* At 14.0 feet, moderate flooding occurs. Some roads are closed. Crops
and pastureland are threatened.

* Flash Flood Watch for a portion of south Texas, including the
following areas, Aransas Islands, Bee, Calhoun Islands,
Coastal Aransas, Coastal Calhoun, Coastal Kleberg, Coastal
Nueces, Coastal Refugio, Coastal San Patricio, Goliad, Inland
Calhoun, Inland Kleberg, Inland Nueces, Inland Refugio, Inland
San Patricio, Jim Wells, Kleberg Islands, Live Oak, Nueces
Islands, and Victoria.

* Through Wednesday afternoon

* Persistent heavy rainfall due to tropical moisture will result
in flash flooding over the watch area. Rainfall rates of 3
inches per hour or higher will likely cause water to accumulate
over some areas. Rainfall amounts will average around or in
excess of 10 inches over the coastal areas, especially over the
Northeastern Coastal Bend.

* Rainfall amounts will average from 7 to 11 inches over areas
near and east of a Corpus Christi to Sinton to Beeville line,
with the highest amounts over portions of Aransas, Refugio,
Calhoun and Southern Victoria Counties. Locally higher amounts
can be expected, as with any heavy rainfall event. Average
amounts of 3 to 7 inches are expected over the western portions
of the watch area, with again locally higher amounts.

flooding as they repeatedly move across the same areas.
