Posted: Updated:

UHV men's soccer looks to repeat as conference champs. Fans can expect to about anything Thursday when the third seeded University of Houston-Victoria Jaguars face off against the second-seeded LSU-Alexandria Generals in a 2018 Raising Cane’s Red River Athletic Conference Men’s Soccer Tournament semifinal at Eagle Field on the campus of Texas &M-Texarkana.

Neither team should need a reason to be fired up for the match with a berth to Friday’s championship game on the line. The two teams meet Thursday at 6:30 p.m. with the winner facing the LSU-Shreveport-Houston St. Thomas winner at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. LSUS and St. Thomas played Thursday at 4 p.m.

The two teams met in last year’s championship game with the Jaguars coming away with a 2-0 win for the Jaguars’ first RRAC conference title.

Meanwhile, the Generals got a little revenge by handing the Jaguars their only conference loss, a 2-0 decision, in the regular season finale for both teams. The win helped the Generals to a co-share of the RRAC regular season title and prevented the Jaguars from claiming their second straight RRAC regular season title.

The two goals the Generals scored on the Jaguars in the season finale match were the first goals the Generals have managed against the Jaguars in the five-game series. The win also snapped a four-game Generals’ losing streak to the Jaguars.

UHV comes into the match having outscored its opponents 36-10 en route to an 11-2-1 record.

Brody Patience and Jose Munoz lead the Jaguars with six goals each, while Gian Marco Zancanro and Adrian Rodriguez each have tallied five. Brandon Watts, Mohammed Ibrahim, and Connagh Wilks each have three in a balanced scoring attack.

Palemon Plancarte has been in goal all season for the Jaguars and has tallied 52 saves and allowed nine goals.

LSUA has outscored its opponents 52-12 with Pedro Rios and Mackenzie Young leading the way with seven each. Harrison Houle has added six goals, with Luiz Petribu and Gylies Mitchel adding four each.

Alvaro Garcia has been in goal for 15 of the Generals 18 games recording 44 saves while allowing seven goals.
