Victoria man identified as victim in Guadalupe Street shooting

On Sunday, 11/04/2018, 3:14 AM, Victoria Police Department officers responded to a residence in the 1900 block of East Guadalupe St. in response to a possible shooting. Upon arrival, persons at the location informed officers that someone named Joshua had been shot.

Inside the residence, officers located a subject who was identified as 24-year-old Victoria resident, Joshua Lynn Williams, with an apparent gunshot wound.

Victoria Fire Department transported Williams to Citizen’s Medical Center where he succumbed to his wounds and was pronounced deceased a short time later.

At this time, no arrests have been made; however, this is an active investigation and VPD Detectives are following up on any and all leads.

    A death row inmate who was part of the notorious "Texas 7" gang of escaped prisoners has received an execution date for late this summer. The Texas Department of Criminal Justice says they've received documents setting 45-year-old Joseph Garcia for lethal injection August 30th. On Christmas Eve 2000, Garcia and six co-defendants fatally shot a 31-year-old police officer while on escape from the Connally Unit. To learn more click here.
