UHV Women's Soccer & Softball News

UHV women's soccer, so close last Thursday to getting its first win of the season.
The Jaguars got a second half goal from Lauren Leslie to tie LSU-Shreveport. But the Pilots won in overtime to drop the UHV women to 0-2 in Red River play, 0-4 overall. Two of the Jaguar women told me how tough that loss was for them. Said goalkeeper Amanda Bautista, "It was pretty tough. I honestly feel we were the better team. We just have to keep it together and we need to finish stronger than what we start. " Said striker Sutton Dalrymple, "Thursday was tough. We tried our hardest. Everybody put their all on the field and we're gonna get back out there."
UHV men's and women's soccer continue conference play Thursday afternoon at Paul Quinn. Ladies first at 1:00.
UHV softball, getting ready for its first fall scrimmages this weekend.
The Jaguars are loaded with returning, experienced players. 14 players are back from last year's Red River conference champs and NAIA national opening round qualifyers. The returnees include seven starters, all six pitchers, All-Conference players like Angel Davidson, Marissa Longoria, and Kelsey Tidrick from Calhoun, along with four-year starters Michelle Revels and Torey Dumont. I talked with two of the seniors about all the experienced players back. Said Revels, "We're excited to have a lot of people back but we also have a lot of new talent and we're excited to see what they can do. We'll really show out on the field this weekend.> Said  Dumont, "It's awesome. We have a lot of great leaders coming back and a lot of experience. We're excited to take the old and the new and make a new team this year and hopefully do even better."
UHV softball's first fall scrimmages come this Saturday afternoon. They will face Houston Baptist at 1:00 and 3:00 at the St. Joe Field Of Dreams.
