East Football Wins Big For First Victory Of Season

Posted: Updated:

East football's first win of the season was a big offensive show.
Homecoming night for East football, coming a night earlier than planned.
I was at Memorial Stadium as the Titans started district play against Miller. First quarter, Bucs on the board first with the one-yard touchdown run by Marcell Davis. East's first drive, Caleb Longoria, new starting quarterback, with the draw play handoff to the senior, Brandon Tumlinson. 17 yard gain to the nine.  Later in the drive, Longoria to Tumlinson down to the Miller one. Tumlinson scores on the next play to tie the game at seven. Miller would answer to lead 7-0, then it was East's turn, and here comes Tumlinson with a convoy of blockers. A 12-yard gain into Buccaneer territory. Later in the drive, up the middle is Tumlinson with his second touchdown of the quarter, a ten yard score for another tie, this time at 14 apiece.  East goes on to win 72-35. The Titans improve to 1-2, 1-0 in district. West won over Moody at Flour Bluff Thursday night,  56-28, to improve to 2-1, 1-0 in district. East vs. West, the Battle For The Boot next Friday night.
