Food-delivery app, Waitr, launches in Victoria

Posted: Updated:

The Waitr app has officially launched in Victoria, meaning you can now get your favorite local food delivered straight to your door.

Launched in 2015, the waitr app is an on-demand restaurant delivery app aimed at delivering local food to hungry customers. Victoria customers can choose from over forty five participating local restaurants, with a wide selection of meals that can be delivered to your home for a small fee. Numerous restaurants have joined the app, including The PumpHouse, Yamato Hibachi and Sushi and Moo-Moo's, just to name a few, with more restaurants being added in the coming weeks and months.

"I look at this as a truly win-win-win situation," explained Regional Sales Director Dustin Boudreaux.  "So, our restaurant partners win because we bring them new customers, new revenue streams. Our customers win because now they can get tons of different great food delivered to their office or their home. And, obviously, that third win is Waitr. If we deliver on both of those forefronts, everyone wins, including us as a company. "

New customers can have their food delivered for free by creating a new account and using the promo code Victoria at check out. The promotion ends on September 23rd.

Below is the official press release from Waitr:

Is it time to eat and you don’t want to – or can’t – leave your home or office for your favorite restaurant meal? Now you don’t have to, thanks to the food delivery service Waitr – which makes its debut today in Victoria. The Waitr app lets you order from your favorite Victoria restaurant … then sends a Waitr driver to deliver it to you for a flat fee of $5.

Waitr will kick off its debut in Victoria with special free delivery promotion. Anytime you use the app through September 23, you can get your food delivered free by using the promo code “VICTORIA” at checkout.

To meet the anticipated demand, the company expects to hire 100 people in the area. Waitr has proven to be wildly popular in cities throughout Texas, Mississippi, Louisiana, Arkansas, Alabama, Georgia, South Carolina, Tennessee and Florida.

Numerous Victoria-area restaurants have already signed with Waitr, including Frances Marie’s, The PumpHouse, Yamato Hibachi & Sushi, Ventura’s Tamales, Moo-Moo, Yummy Finds, Double J Eatery, Las Palmas, Huvar's Artisan Market and ParaVida Wellness. Many more are expected to be added in the coming weeks.

Waitr’s distinct technology makes it unlike any other. “From live monitoring of deliveries yielding faster door-to-door service, to the unique ability to provide full-color photography of every menu item from all participating restaurants, there are a number of things that make Waitr stand out among its competitors,” said Whitney Savoie, Market Development Director for Waitr.

Waitr has also received widespread acclaim for its extremely favorable pricing for consumers and restaurant partners. Menu prices are the same on the app as they are at the restaurants. Chris Meaux, the company’s founder, says the flat fee is the same no matter the distance from the restaurant or whether you order one meal or 20 – a refreshing departure from other area services. In addition to delivery, Waitr has added a new level of convenience to carryout orders. Users order from the app and are alerted at the exact time when the food is ready for pick-up. There is no charge to consumers for placing these orders.

Waitr is exceptionally simple to use. After an account is created, you choose a restaurant, browse the fully customizable menu, select your items and tap to submit the order. All payments happen seamlessly and securely with a credit card. Ordering is also available via the Web at waitrapp.com.

Waitr is currently hiring in Victoria. Drivers can apply at https://waitrapp.com/become-a-driver.

Launched in 2015, Waitr is an on-demand restaurant platform designed to connect local restaurants to hungry consumers. Founded in Lake Charles, Louisiana, Waitr’s mission is to develop the local food culture for communities across the United States by expanding the reach of local restaurant menus. Available on the Web, on iPhone and Android devices, Waitr is the most convenient way to discover, order and eat great food from the best local restaurants. Today, Waitr has 6,000 restaurant partners and well over one million users in more than 230 cities.
