Volunteers Completed Community Service Projects On Day of Caring

Posted: Updated:

Today the Victoria County United Way held their Day of Caring community service projects throughout Victoria. Day of Caring featured volunteers at seven different locations including the YMCA, Food Bank, and Billy T Cattan Recovery Outreach Center. Volunteers also helped Habitat For Humanity in repairing Hurricane Harvey damaged homes off Myra Lane. Over 120 volunteers plus workers from local businesses and organizations from around the Crossroads spent today helping with the projects.

Victoria County Executive Director Dolly Stokes was extremely happy in today's turnout with the projects. "This has been heart warming today to see all the volunteers that are giving up their time and talents at all these locations. It makes a difference not only to the person being helped but to those that are helping. For anyone who hasn't volunteered, they should volunteer at some point," said Stokes.

The United Way of Victoria County has conducted Day of Caring for the past eight years. Next Friday, volunteers and the United Way will be at the Boys and Girls Club of De Witt County in Cuero doing some repair work and improving the physical spaces used by the children. Anyone who is interested in future community service projects can call the united way 361-578-3561.
